start_session

Start a DJ session: launches HTTP server and initializes the audio engine. Returns stream URL with LAN IP. Anyone on the network can tune in.

play_pattern

Send Strudel pattern code to the browser REPL for evaluation. The code will be set and evaluated in the Strudel editor.

stop_music

Stop the currently playing Strudel pattern.

get_session_state

Get the current state of the browser: whether audio is started, active code, errors, and tempo (CPS).

set_tempo

Set the playback tempo. Provide either BPM or CPS (cycles per second). For 4/4 time: CPS = BPM / 240.

dj_speak

Use text-to-speech to announce over the music. All listeners hear the announcement in the stream. Works on macOS (say) and Linux (espeak-ng).

check_requests

Check for pending user requests submitted via the browser UI. Drains the queue.

wait

Wait for a specified number of seconds (letting the music play), then return any pending user requests. This is the core DJ loop tool.

get_available_sounds

Get a curated list of available Strudel sounds, organized by category.

Tool annotations

No tools have read-only/destructive annotations

Add readOnlyHint or destructiveHint annotations to every tool so hosts can warn users before invoking.

All four hints declared on every tool

9/9 tools missing one or more hints — start_session (missing: readOnlyHint, destructiveHint, idempotentHint, openWorldHint); play_pattern (missing: readOnlyHint, destructiveHint, idempotentHint, openWorldHint); stop_music (missing: readOnlyHint, destructiveHint, idempotentHint, openWorldHint), +6 more. OpenAI's directory rejects tools where any of the four hints are missing or non-boolean.

For every tool, set all four hints (readOnlyHint, destructiveHint, idempotentHint, openWorldHint) to explicit true/false values that match the handler’s actual behaviour.

Destructive tools are labelled

1 tool perform destructive updates without destructiveHint — dj_speak deletes at line 351 (unlink(aiffPath))

Add destructiveHint:true to any tool whose handler calls .delete(), .upsert(), .update(), unlink, rm, DELETE, DROP, REPLACE INTO, or any operation that overwrites existing data.

Tool inputs are validated

5/9 tool handlers declare input schemas (56%)

Declare an inputSchema with zod/joi/yup on every tool definition.

License file

No license file

Add a LICENSE file (MIT, Apache-2.0, etc.).

Tests exist

No test files found

Add tests that exercise each declared tool.

Production dependencies are patched

0 critical, 1 high severity in production deps — @modelcontextprotocol/sdk@1.25.3 (high)

Run npm audit fix, or upgrade the affected packages to a non-vulnerable version.

Dependency freshness

1/10 production deps stale: lamejs@2022-06-19 (4.2y)

// full audit trail
The findings above are the summary. The full trail, every check we ran, each deduction, the network hosts observed and the dependency advisories, goes to verified publishers, along with an alert whenever a new one lands. Verified publishers can also review each finding and dispute it in one click. Publisher corrections have sharpened several of our checks this month, because the maintainer knows the codebase better than any scanner.
// improvement guidance — verified publishers only
We have 7 concrete improvements we can share with the publisher of this MCP. Each comes with specific guidance to raise the trust score.
